I think they also sell themselves because weird looks aside they evoke an intuitive sense that our feet aren't crippled -- they're just sensitive (so barefoot is good -- barefoot on asphalt is uncomfortable).

Just so you know, not all VFFs don't breath well. Actually, most of them breath great but the Flows don't breath much at all. Check out the Vibram KSOs or the Classics. Personally, my Classics are my favorite -- like a functional foot glove and a sandall all wrapped up in one shoe. Hard to beat.

Thanks for sharing great article. Vibram five finger is a good shoes. It is comfortable and flexible on foot. I tested it many times and I was amazed to its performance. This is a great running shoes.
